Whoever posted on here and other sites that the 870 extension tube works for this gun is incorrect. I bought it and took it to a gunsmith, and he said it will not work. Just wanted to post this so other people sont make the mistake (listening to the hype) like I did.

Bottom Line: Someone needs to go to Russia and get us a whole bunch of these, b/c the tacstar 870 tube absolutely, positively does not work for this gun.

BTW: If anyone can find something that does work, please let me know. Thanks!

Hi,

Thank you for posting the results of your trial. Can you give the reference of the mag extension you tried?
They are listed here:
http://www.tacstar.com/magazine-extensions-02.php

I have heard of people trying the ones for 870/1100/11-87 and they would not work.

However, the ones for Rem 870 only seem to fit.

I have ordered 2 of those myself (10-Shot Remington 870 14 oz $67.98 1081179). They are on the way, no ETA yet, and if you're right I have just lost US$200.

So, could you give me the ref number of the one you tried?
Is it this one (down to the end of the page) http://corsicarms.activebb.net/armes-de-chasse-f4/custom-sur-baikal-t598-15.htm
Does it fit but won't allow loading/cycling?
Or does it not fit at all on the magazine thread?

Thanks.

Frank

10-Shot Remington 870 14 oz $67.98 part # 1081179

Its for the remington 870 only.

It extends further out than my 24" barrel, so it would look silly even if it did manage to work
AND
When I tool it to a gunsmith, he couldn't get it to screw on. Too tight. We never even got past that to see how well it would cycle...

Hi,

I ordered 2 of the exact same parts 1081179 for my Baikal and my pal's (we both bought 3.5" 28"-bbl synthetic).

I just got them today, opened mine and screwed it on the end of my original magazine without forcing. Thread is exactly the same, not loose at all. Only thing is that the inner female thread on the extension is 3 millimeters shorter than the male one on the end of the magazine. I think I'll go buy a spacer (1" inner diameter) tomorrow and that will be perfect. I'll take picture later today or tomorrow and show you what it's like.

I will test it tomorrow to see if it feeds correctly (only with 2 shells in the mag as it is restricted by law here, and I don't have yet the proper authorization to use an unrestricted magazine). So yes my extension is all show for the time being...

But it fits and I think it will cycle ok!

Frank

(By the way, the minimum length for barrels is written on their website http://www.tacstar.com/faqs.php. They recommend 26" for the +5 extension. Mine is about 1 inch shorter than the 28" barrel with the provided choke installed)

Here come the pics:

And details of the thread highlighting the need for a spacer:

Perhaps I got lucky, perhaps not all of them fit, perhaps Baikal changed the thread.
I don't know but my TacStar 870 +5 extension fits!!!

ATI remington 870 extensions work. i have tried them on my baikal 153 at a gunshop. you can buy them online for $23.50 for the polymer extension- this one works with zero issues and fits flush:
http://www.atigunstocks.com/p-93-8-shot ... -12ga.aspx

or you can get the aluminum ones for 40 bucks or so:

this one will need a spacer to fit flush with the factory male part of the tube.

I know this subject is beat to death, but I have a question. Can someone explain the spacer needed? I don't think understand exactly. Maybe a link to something I can look at? Thanks.

I think the washer (spacer) in placed between the screw end of the magazine extension and the forend (plastic or wooden) so that the magazine extension will tighten down onto the forend.
If it's not there the forend will have play which is the equivalent of a very very loose forend nut.
