After looking though all 146 pages of the picture thread, I found very few shotguns with beautiful wood. I am in the process of refinishing the wood for my 870, but until then I would like to see a thread devoted to just wood stocks and forends.

This is my project shotgun. I may turn the stock into a birdhead style or buy a hogue tamer and make it a PGO. As pretty as I think it is I already have an 870 for HD and a mossberg 930 for semi auto goodness.

I wouldn't go so far as to call it beautiful wood but here's my shotgun:

Johnny's reppin Old Skool.
I'd really like to get another old Wingmaster police with the flat walnut and LE foreend and no extension.

That's close to $300 worth of guns in that picture.

Those are some nice looking guns. You don't see Mossies very often with wood. I ended up selling my Mossberg 500 to a buddy because it was all black and plasticky. I love the look of wood on shotguns.

What model is that? That's a very unique looking gun, and I mean that in a good way :)

The shotgun is a Mossberg 500. I bought it in 1998 at Walmart for $170 with a 28" barrel. I added the 18.5" a couple years ago. The S&W is a Model 10-6 made in 1964. I bought it last year from a friend for $125. It had goodyears on it, which I don't like, so I picked up those magnas for $5.00 on ebay. It's got a lot of finish wear but no rust. Lock up is great and the trigger is outstanding. That heavy barrel makes +p a joy to shoot. They definitely don't make them like that anymore. My friend bought it in the late 70s to be his duty gun. Bought it from a place in Arizona that did a lot of PD surplus business. It's marked BP on the backstrap but I have no idea who that is.

Neither of them is for sale.

Wow. What's the distance between the sights? Have you thought about having the receiver tapped for a ghost ring or just putting on a bead? Nonetheless, that is a sweet looking gun.

distance between the sights is about 9 inches, (factory Remington 14 inch barrel)

not a big fan of ghost rings

bead like this?

That was the first thing that came to mind but I kind of doubt it.
