To adapt an old saying:

"if you have to ask, no."

If one had a lot of experience with SGs, then one might find a feature (or some features) of a high end gun valuable to them. To the less experienced the features of a high end gun over a reliable workhorse would probably not be noticeable.

I count myself in the latter group. When I read reviews of high end guns, I can't relate. "Is the action that much smoother, and why would I care?" I suppose I don't have refined taste in SG's. For my wallet's sake, I kind of hope it stays that way. A Mossberg 500 or 590 is plenty for me.

I'd say it's a tie between the mossberg rolling thunder, and the roadblocker.

A plain jane, everyday run of the mill Remington 870 will do anything all those fancy
foreign jobbers will do at a much cheaper price.

I would go to a gun store and check for yourself. For a high end shotgun, you might want to try a Remmington 870 Wingmaster.

Do want. So bad. I ponder what happened to the two functional prototypes.

I have both of them, and all 10 aa-12s.

Well, you need to make an offer to our grammatically challenged OP. It is hard to tell, but he may be in the market for a top of the line shotgun.

The best shotgun on the market?

"IF" the time ever comes, the one you used to save you and your families lives. That would be the BEST shotgun on the market.

Like so many other things in life, it's not just about the quality of the equipment. It is about the skill of the operator.
A high end anything in the hands of a novice is nowhere near as good as a workable tool in the hands of an expert.

That statement applies to a wide range of subjects. Always buy the best tools you can afford, and then get as good at using them as you can. Most people will never surpass the capabilities of the tool there using.

One man's Apple is gonna be another's Orange and another's Grapefruit.

Start defining "high end of the market", cause if you're talking a sweet-swingin' Double, then you're on the wrong floor. At least that's what I would equate too "high end."

Me too. The "high end of the market" (where price is concerned) shotguns are really not good defensive weapons. I like them though and will have a nice straight stocked sidelock some day. I enjoy hunting with my pistol grip Spanish 20 gauge boxlock but it is definitely not the "high end of the market".

There is no question that it is best to open during business hours.

Not only that, but it's TOO open TO tell. See the difference between the TWO?
