I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to ask...where would be the best place to get some empty shotgun shells?

I live in texas but this is a little harder than I imagined. Everywhere I call either doesn't have them or doesn't know where to get them.

Go to any clay target range and ask to scrounge in their trash buckets. Works for me!

Unfortunately the closest range to me that lets you use shotguns is a fair distance away.

Quality hulls can sometimes be found at guns shops - they'll buy the empties and bag them. I don't reload shotgun shells but I get once-fired .300 Win Mag brass from my local gun shop. I know they have good empty 12 ga hulls.

There are several avenues to amass a hull stash. The best is of course to dumpster dive and/or scrounge off the ground at a range. Do you shoot alone? If not, hit up your non-reloading buddies for their empties. While you're at it, coax them into shooting your favorite brand(s)! The classifieds here on SGW often have hulls, as does Gunbroker. Last but not least, there's always factory ammo. As a reloader you'll be reusing them 5+ times, so you can amortize the cost to soften the blow.

Well, I'm not actually reloading them and none of my friends shoot. I need them for a project I'm working on, so they don't really need to be of any good quality.

How many do you need and where are you? Any particular requirements?

I'm in Dallas, Texas and I can't honestly see myself needing more than ten.

Requirements? Not really. I'm a costumer so I've learned to work with what I can get.

If you're not particular about brand or condition, then any trash can at a shooting range will have plenty!

Here's an online guide to help you find one nearby:

Many gun shops offer once fired empty shotshells in bags of 200 or 250 pcs. for about .10 cents each. If you only want/need a few freebies, visit a local trap, skeet and/or sporting clays range.

Depending on your location in the Dallas area you could visit:

1.) Elm Fork Shooting Park at 10751 Luna Road, Dallas
2.) Dallas Gun Club at 3601 South Stemmons, Lewisville
3.) Grand Prairie Gun Club, 2330 Lower Tarrant Road, Grand Prairie
4.) Arlington Sportsman Club, 3021 Pecan Circle, Bedford
5.) Alpine Shooting Range, 5482 Shelby Road, Ft. Worth, TX.

You should be able to obtain some empties from shooters or the trash barrel.

Call the National Shooting Complex in San Antiono. I ordered 2,000 once fired 12ga AA hulls. If I remember correctly they sell them for .05 each

Some of the local gunshops around me, have barrels full of empties for sale. Check with a gunshop.

By the way, what exactly is a "Costumer?"
