Here is another 'Reloading Quantities' Table I have found indispensable; shows the # of reloads per 25lb bag for a wide range of payload weights; # of loads per lb of powder by graduating grain amounts, etc.:

http://www.imrpowder.com/data/shotshell ... hp#CHILLED SHOT TABLE

I converted it to MS Word and added a row showing the "# of boxes per 25lb bag" for payload weights from 5/8 to 1oz:

Weight Ounces 5/8 3/4 7/8 1
Boxes @ 25 Lb. 26 21 18 16

Along with the earlier thread thoughtfully posted by Calisto (and titled, The "Shot Size Table" on Shotgun World), these tables take a lot of the guesswork out of getting started in reloading. Probably make a good sticky (hint! ;-)

Best o' success!

Number of shells per 25-lb bag of shot at x oz of shot per load = 25*16/x = 400/x
Example - 7/8-oz load: 400/0.875 = 457 loads per 25-lb bag of shot.

Number of boxes of reloads per 25-lb bag of shot at x oz per load: 16/x
Example - 7/8-oz load: 16/0.875 = 18 boxes of loads per 25-lb bag of shot.

Number of loads per pound of powder at y grains per load = 7000/y
Example - 18 grain load: 7000/18 = 388 loads per pound of powder.

Mike,

Isn't it amazing how many folks don't poses fundamental math skills any more?

Geze, I bet I could write a program that tells me how many pennies are in a nickel, or how many dimes in a dollar too? If you had a $50 how many $5s or $10s could you get for it? Wouldn't that be helpful?

thor, just pick up a copy of the IMR load data booklet and keep it under your bench on the book shelf. Keep it open to the the page that has all that information on it. That way when you need it you can just pick it up and look at it rather than firing up your computer to look it up. By the time you get your computer up and running I can have it figured out the long way and confirm my math with the IMR booklet. You're still waiting for Windows to boot up!

It's not just fundamental maths skills, BP, although that is depressing, also look at the spelling and grammar found anywhere today. Somehow a lot of folks seem to have missed the lessons that stuck with me. I remember very distinctly being told that that I'd be judged by my competence in little things first, that anything worth doing was worth doing to the best of my abilities... and that it was my job always to seek to improve my abilities. These ideas, which I used to take for granted, now seem quite rare indeed.

I still gotta figure out how to calculate in a couple of my most important variables to the whole thing....

Spillage & mis-loaded hulls

Throws all these numbers totally out of whack.
