Fjestad's Blue Book of Gun Values has a section titled; Store Brand Cross-over List. All of the J.C. Penny brands were made by one of the following original manufacturers: Marlin, Glenfield, High Standard, Savage, or Springfield. An example is: Marlin model 2025 equates to a Marlin mod. 80C. Hope this helps.

Post all the markings (model name or number) you can find on the gun and we'll be more than happy to tell you who made it.
