I am looking into getting a new shotgun and I like the Winchester model 101. I am looking at the new model 101 not the classic one. I know from Winchester's website that the gun is made in Belgium but I can't find if Winchester themselves is making the gun or is Fabrica Nationale making the gun. Can anyone help me out?

Is this a "who's buried in grant's tomb" question?

The guns are manufactured by FN Herstal in Belgium and assembled in Portugal. I've been shooting one for over 2 years now and really like it.

Winchester is just a name now... there's no Winchester factory...

Thanks for the information.

ShowMe2:

If you do not mind me asking which model of the 101 did you buy and what do you normally shoot: trap/skeet/sporting clays or all three. I am just asking because I am looking for a gun that will be good for all three.

You might find a gun that will do all three passably, you won't find a gun that will do all three WELL.

DE17,

drsfmd is right...there is no gun that handles all 3 disciplines well, but I've got a Platinum Sporting (now discontinued, but basically the same as the 101) with 30" barrels. I use mine for skeet, trap, and sporting clays, but I shoot just for fun. The Sporting model does a decent job for all 3 games. I used to be a Citori guy, but now that I've shot the Winchester for a little over 2 years, I would never buy a 12 gauge Citori again.

No, they are all made at FN and assembled there, ever since FN bought the rights to Winchester and Browning as I understand it.

At least my Select Platinum was made and assembled at FN.

Direct from the Winchester site
One thing that isn’t new is the high standard of quality you expect from a Winchester shotgun. And, like the greatest over and unders in history, they’re made in Belgium

FN could call it anything they wanted, but chose to call it a Winchester as they pay for the name. FN pays for the rights to use the Win. name and also owns Browning. If Olin gets to greedy they might just let someone else pay for the Win. name and just call ther Win. line FN. All I know is I love my Supreme!!!
