Hi all,

I have an older (1977) 870 LW Wingmaster in 20 gauge 2 3/4 and I understand that not all LW barrels will fit this gun. Is that correct? Can I get a magnum LW barrel for this gun? Is anything available with interchangeable Remington chokes?

Thanks for the advice,

Marley

I think you're confusing the 1100 LW with the 870. It is true that not all 1100 LW barrels are interchangeable, due to the length of the barrel shank.

I think you can fit any 870 LW barrel. However, if your replacement barrel has a 3 inch chamber I think you'll still only be able to use 2 3/4 inch shells due to the size of the ejector port and perhaps some internal parts as well.

The Special Field barrels won't fit because the barrel ring is moved further back. 3" barrel may work with 3" shells, but the ejector may or may not fling the shells out. The ejection ports are the same size, but the ejectors are different - sometimes. You won't know for sure until you try.

I do not trust Remington's dating service accuracy. If they were Match.com, you could end up with Nancy Pelosi.

Thanks guys,
I appreciate your help! :D

Would you know if Remington ever made an 28" LW barrel with Remchokes?

Thanks again,

Marley

The Remington website indicates that the 870 20 gauge is available with a 28 inch Remchoke barrel. You should be able to get a replacement for your gun.
