I need so help from someone who owns or has shot the DT10 trap with straight/adj comb.
My question is ; when sighting down the barrel with the mid dot and the front sight in a figure 8 does the gun patten out 50/50 or something else.

Thanks

I suggest you pattern it and see. If you are asking because you haven't bought one yet, I think the answers you get to that question won't be very helpful. Point of impact will vary from gun to gun, same model, same manufacturer. Also, POI will be heavily influenced by your physical characteristics: length of neck, meat on shoulder, structure of cheek, etc.

Regardless, if you get a DT-10, you CAN have it fitted to your so it will pattern however you want-- 50-50 or 80-20. It may cost $200-300, but if you can afford a DT-10, the odds are you can afford to have it fitted.

Hope this helps.

yes they shoot 50/50 on the rib when the beads are lined up. If you are going to shoot sporting though the comb will probably be too high to shoot below 70/30 or 80/20. Very nice gun, weight around 9lb 2oz.

Hi Rib 52,
I don't understand why it would shoot 50/50 with the beads lined up but would shoot higher when shooting sporting clays? Please explain.
thanks

The guns (Beretta X trap guns) are setup to shoot 50/50 when sighting down the rib. But trap shooters want them to shoot anywhere from 60/40 to 80/20. This is achieved by building the gun with a high comb so that you see a gap between the beads when mounted. For me the DT10 trap gun shot 70/30 when I mounted with normal cheek preasure. So I would have to shave the comb down in order to shoot my normal 60/40 for sporting. I actually have a 687 X trap that I have lowered the comb on and it is very nice for sporting, even the balance is nice if you want a reasonably priced high rib sporter. I sold my DT10 because it was going to be a bigger deal to lower the comb and refinish it. One thing that has since worked for me is to lower the comb (adjustable comb peice only) to a place where it fits you and then have a leather soft comb installed. I had country gentleman do it at a match and couldn't be happier. Hope this helps.

High Rib 52,
thank you for your response, it was very informative. The gun I am looking at is a DT 10 american trap O/U with adj comb and monte carlo stock. It is new but according to the dealer Beretta is not going to sell the DT trap guns as single O/U anymore only as combos, O/U and a single barrel.

Unforutnatly it is out of state and I can't see it or mount it before purchase so I don't know what sight picture I would see when mounted with the comb all the way down. I like the option of replacing the adj comb if necessary, I will see if anyone in the northwest does that.

Thanks again.

FYI,

My gun measured 1 1/2" on the comb and 2 1/4" at the MC.
