Utility Grade. Sent test message as I have tried four times to respond to your question and my computer has screwed up.
Now for No.5 Hyde & Shattuck was located in Hatfield,MA from 1876 to 1909. They were finally known as C.S. Shattuck. Under the reference to Hyde & Shattuck it is mentioned that they made a 14 gauge brass frame First Model hammerless single shot single barrel. Only one gun, serial number 250 and marked HYDE & SHATTUCK SPRINGFIELD MASS. The hammerless gun was made in 8,10, and 12 gauge with 30, 32, 34 and 36 inch twist (damascus) barrels. These guns were made between 1876 and 1880. If your gun is anything like the illustration in my reference then it is a rather thick frame with what appears to be two triggers. The front trigger i in fact a brwak open lever. Value. Hard to say but most single barrel "Trade Brand Name"shotguns can sell for about $200 in prime condition and less than $10 for a rusty rotten incomplete piece of junk fit only for a tomato stake.

I think the "2 trigger" Shattuck guns, if that's what the OP has, should be classed as something other than "trade brand guns". Maybe as Oddball Single-Shots produced by an Obscure Gunmaker? If folks want to keep lumping them all together, I guess that's OK. I'll keep buying the Obscure Oddballs at "trade brand" prices.

In 8 and 10 ga. the Shattuck guns will, in good condition, command more than $200.

Hyde & Shattuck is very early, in the late 1870s. By 1882 the company is advertising as C.S. Shattuck and remains so to 1909.
