First, I admit to having not patterned many of the high dollar loads. I had patterned many of the lead loads and then tried Remington's Wingmaster HD. They blew away all the lead loads I had ever tested. So I use the 3" 1 1/4oz #6 Wingmaster HD loads. They patterned so well I didn't try any of the other high density loads. Fall turkey hunting in Missouri with my 20 gauge, I have killed 3 turkeys with this load. One was within the range of just about any load but the other 2 were at 47 steps and 48 steps. My steps are pretty close to a yard (I'm 6'1") but it's safe to say they both were at least 45 yards. That's also probably about max range for that load in my gun and choke combo. The lead loads I patterned would not have made the kills that far. 40 yards was the max I would consider with any of the lead loads I tested with 35 being much better. So that's my vote although Federal or Winchester high density loads may be just as good.

I roll my own since the performance I want is not available commercially at present.

Here's my 40 yd pattern, showing 10" and 20" circles and counts.
(20 ga. Rem 870, Rem Super Full, 1-5/8 oz. 18g/cc T9s, 1100 fps, 11200 psi)

I use a Stoeger Uplander. I bought a Carlson's flush .575 constriction turkey choke that I use for the first shot (right barrel) with the Wingmaster HD #6s. I just use a standard full choke for the other barrel and move up to #4 shot which is the largest shot allowed for turkey hunting in Missouri. Never had to use the second barrel though.

I use my 20 ga Benelli M2 and just some left over Pheasant loads. If I use it this year I'll go with a 1 ounce 5 or 6.

Nice Montanna Mirriams that is awesome!!!

My dad is a sissy, he uses a 12 gauge. For me, the 20 is all I need.
