I searched the archives, but couldn't find anything to answer my question. I'm hoping someone here knows.

My new-to-me Arrieta has the serial number stamped on the water table and part of that number is the same as the number on the tang, which I assume is the actual serial number. Another part of the number is "570-3" which I think might be the model number, only I think the gun is actually a model 578, judging by what I can find of online catalogs.

Maybe I should post a pic....

Bob,

The good news is that your gun is relatively new --post 1995. The number "57" does not correspond to the model number, but rather the manufacturer's number. "57" means "Arrieta" under the 1995 Weapons Codes established by the Spanish government. "03" means that it is a shotgun. The next three digits tell us that it was the 124th shotgun made by Arrieta. The last two digits which I cannot see will tell us the year it was made. Don't worry, your gun is a hand engraved, coin finished Arrieta 578 SLE with a single trigger and average grade Arrieta 578 wood which you purchased for $1275 under current street value. {hs#

So, go shoot the damn gun and have some fun with it!

I'm headed out to the farm this afternoon. I'll take a couple of cardboard boxes with me just so I can shoot something. I've a bunch to do out there anyway, so I'm not playing (much) hookey. :) :) :)
