Good Morning y'all :D

I'm so-o-o-o-o excited! I just found a 1908 H & R 16 ga. in very good condition. Only cosmetic flaw is that someone tried to do some checkering on the forearm and it needs to be replaced. Unrepairable as is. I love the old 16's and want to give this one a good home in my collection. Any suggestions as to where i can find a forearm? Used would be ok as long as no damage.

Thanks and have a great day!
Peaches2 :)

Peaches2: I also have an H&R 16 ga. that I am trying to repair. I am missing the complete wood forend and the spacer and screws as well as a buttplate. Have you had any luck finding parts for your H&R yet? I've checked Gun Parts Corp. several times but they are all "sold out". If you should happen to find a source for parts, I would appreciate it if you would let me know. Is yours a large frame with "Bay State" on the left side of the receiver? From what info I can gather, mine is also a Model 1908. Thanks for your time. :)

I suggest checking in with the H&R NEF boards at Graybeard's Outdoors. The H&R folks there have forgotten more about these guns since breakfast than most sane people will ever want to know and I'm sure someone can immediately guide you on this.

Good luck

Could you simply power sand off the checkering attempt. It would make it a thinner stock but it's do-able. I have a used NEF Partner that I cut the semi-grip off of and used a power sander to shape it into a straight stock and thinned the whole thing down some as well as the forearm.
