I have a stevens model 59a.. a few questions. it says 2 1/2 & 3" shells, is it safe to shoot 2 1/2" 000buckshot in it? also, Im having trouble with the receiver pulling in the next round. it appears that the holder for the round coming in next has very sharp edges, like it has been modified or filed or something. is it hard to find a new one? and how can I find a manual on how to strip this one as it seems to be harder than usual to take apart... thnx much

Welcome to Shotgun World....You'll most likely get the answers you need here.....
On your gun, I'd guess it says 2 3/4" and 3" shells.....if it does then any 2 1/2" 2 5/8" (both somewhat oddies in the U.S.) and any 2 3/4" and 3" shells would chamber and shoot properly and be safe as long as proper choking is observed as to steel and heavyshot.........as to the gunsmithing question, it really would be/could be addressed much better in the "Gunsmithing and Restoration" forum I'd suggest posting there........Art

In case it helps solve your issue, parts for this shotgun can be found here.

my stevens model 59a says 2 1/2" and 3" shells.. I have a box of 2 1/2" 000buck (4 pellets) for self defence.. (made for a judge 410 revolver) Im just not sure if because they are large shot, do they have any risk of hitting the 3" choke at the end of where the round goes in the barrel.. I see a cut out at 3" and Im just not used to shooting buckshot that large. thnx again..

The parts listing is here, but they appear to be sold out. You might try Bob's Gun Shop here.
