I purchased a set of stainless steel inserts on Ebay last week and finally got a chance to use them this morning at Etowah Valley. The inserts are about $20.00 which is considerably less than most of the "name brand" inserts on the market. I used Remington "Top Gun" #8.

Positives:

I would rate the overall performance of the tubes as excellent. No apparent loss of velocity and I don't believe it cost me any birds due to pattern.

Recoil was almost non-existent as you would expect firing 7/8 loads with a 12 Gauge

Spent shells fall right out of the inserts so no tool is required at least not with the brand I used this morning.

Negatives:

The tubes get fairly "dirty" after about one box of shells. It's easy to wipe them down real quick with a clean rag but it's something you don't normally have to deal with.

Sounds more positive than negative. Thanks for the report

Cool Chad! So do the ejectors work at all when the tubes are installed?

Do you mind sharing the link or the seller? I have been thinking about getting some. Also, do the ejectors work?

Very curious on these as well. I just got my wife a A71 and if she could rock 20 GA out of it, that would be great.

Would these work in an auto?

These are very basic inserts that convert your 20 gauge shell to a 12 gauge shell.
The ejectors kick out the insert as they would a 12 gauge shell but with considerably less force of course since it is a stainless steel tube.
The operation went like this:

1) Break open the action
2) Cover adapter/shell with hand
3) Catch adapter/shell with hand
4) Dump spent shell (there are cans next to the stands at Etowah)
5) Insert adapter
6) Insert 20 gauge shell

The 6 steps may sound like a lot but for me it's really only 1 additional step (insert adapter) as this is how I clear and load on the course anyway.

These are really only for break action guns as a pump or an auto will not cycle the sub-gauge shell. http://www.shotgunadapter.com/
