Just wanted to let all the slug shooters out there that the new Federal Trophy Copper Tipped sabot slug is out. I picked up a couple boxes from bass pro today and plan to shoot them this weekend to see how well they group. For those that don;t know Federal replaced the Barnes Tipped Expander with a slug of their own called the Trophy Copper. It's weoghs in at 300 grains which puts it lighter by 27 grains but the claimed speeds are the same. Notice I said claimed speeds, I don't have a chrono so I can't verify any speeds but if anybody else does and wants to buy a few boxes and post the resluts go ahead.

The 20 gauge 275 gr slug at 1700 FPS looks good. i will have to try some.the old federal's were one of the most acurate slugs out of my gun and you cant beat the barnes solid copper for deer killing.

I tested the 3" Federal Trophy Copper slugs today. Fired off the bench from my M37 Deerslayer I got about 2 1/2 inch three shot group at 100 yds. Not too bad since my gun hated the Tipped Expanders. I want to get a box of the 2 3/4 and see if the groups tighten up. Temps were in the 70's and I allowed 5 minutes cool down. The groups were shot after two fouling and two other three shot groups. I also tested the Winchester Partition golds 2 3/4 and the Winchester Dual Bonds 2 3/4. The Dual Bonds shot the best.
