I was wondering what you all think about the newest twist to the Duck Commander's video series -- a TV reality show production called Duck Dynasty.

You notice the way they shoot practice without using clay targets? The have someone hit golf balls, and they shoot at them! Sounds like a great way to have some fun!

A twist between "The Beverly Hillbillies", "Dallas", "Dukes of Hazard", and "Hunting with Hank". And as Phil Robertson says " Everyone is Happy. Happy. Happy."

I saw part of one episode while channel surfing. The conveyor belt. Very funny indeed.

Are their duck calls really special?

Oh boy, here we go....

"They're the best ever"

"It's the guy blowing the call that is all the talent"

"Don't waste your money on Duck Commander"

"I wouldn't buy anything but Duck Commander"

"I saw a guy at the duck blind calling in 5000 ducks using two fingers and a reed and the guy with the DC couldn't get one duck to come in"

I know Phil and Kay Robertson personally and they are wonderful people. Get Terry Bradshaw's or Coach Bear Bryant's autobiography and you will find Phil mentioned. And that was before his duck calls. That tells you what kind of an impact he has on people in real life. I'm not sure, even though Marist89 knows everything, that he made their book. His duck calls are world renown, and you can't fool a duck hunter. He has made millions and millions of dollars with no marketing, but calling results. And as far as sporting clay shooters goes, they are all master class shooters but don't know it. Might have to get them to do a show kicking some shooter butt.

I'm sure he is, that's not the point.

If the link that was posted is correct, it has nothing at all to do with Duck Dynasty as far as I know.

It was obviously staged, and I find it curious that any driving range owner would allow this to go on with all of the legalities involved, etc., if it wasn't.

It's also curious that the guy shooting the shotgun has ear protection on, but none of the "unsuspecting golfers" do.

Phil and his guys do shoot some golf balls on a couple of episodes of Duck Dynasty. They seem like a great family, and it's an entertaining show. People that know them that I have talked to say they are really down to earth, decent people.

And yes, their duck calls are really excellent. My favorite duck calls (and goose) are wooden ones made by Tim Grounds, but the Robertson's calls are top notch.

That is correct. I'm sorry if some people didn't pick up my poor attempt at humor.

For clarification, the original message talked about shooting at golf balls. That caused me to remember this clip that made its way around a few years ago. It comes from a Japanese television show. Obviously it has nothing whatsoever to do with Duck Dynasty or, for that matter, shooting as we know it.

I didn't mean to create any controversy. Nor, I imagine did Jeff. His post merely highlighted that on any topic some people will say the product is wonderful; others will pan it.

You pay your money; you take your chances.

Vette is dead right about those folks. However, the hide most times does not come off the
golf ball when hit with shot...... just a big change in direction.

Yes the duck calls are very good and yes you need some talent and practice to make it work. If you are not willing to paractice with any call you will have the same results no matter the cost of the call or the name on the call. If that case just get one from any local store and go make some noise.

If the duck commander knew how much water was here at M & M, he'd be here.
