Who makes them? Remington makes a rifled 870 barrel chambered for 3.5" shells - must mean someone makes slugs to fit?

Thanks!

i saw several boxes of 3 1/2 inch remington shells at academy... i think they were slugs, but they might have been buckshot.

Lightfield Co is the only company I know that makes a 3.5 slug. What are you going to be using them for? I can't think of many critters that need more killin' than a 3 inch slug could deliever. Certainly with the higher pressure limits of a 3.5 inch gun you could pump more thumpin down that barrel but you got to be able to suck up all that recoil? ouch!

I'm going to slip in here on this one. At Dixie Slugs, we have been doing testing at various times over the past to years. When we first began, we bought about every slug on the market.....first for smoothbores and then for rifled barrels. We ahve not been interested in sabot rounds, but rather a set up for heavy (and sometimes dangerous) game and close quaters. The soft swaged Foster type slugs failed in penetration tests and leaded the barrel very bad. The 2 3/4" stuff was lousey in 3" chambers due to the distance the slug moved before getting into the forcing cone. The 2 3/4" and 3" stuff was terrible in 3 1/2" chambers. By casting the slugs from bullet alloy, it helped some. ......James

Info on Lightfield ammo can be found at:
http://www.lightfieldslugs.com/lightfield/

I've shot some in an 11-87 SuperMag smoothbore with extended rifled choke. Accuracy was good at 50 yards (about 2 inches), but the kick was significant. Probably would not notice it in a hunting situation.
