I am not sure how it happened but the crimp starter broke on my Spolar 410 tool head. Is that just a MEC crimp starter?

Yes,Spolar use's a MEC,crimp starter now,the original presses used a Hornady,crimp starter,either
one will work, but the Hornady assembly is different,on how the crimp starter mounts together. When I
change crimp starter's,I have the whole assembly, set up so I just spin the crimp assembly out and
replace it with another whole assembly, say going from 6, to 8-point change out,it's a no brainer and
the setting's remain.

Make sure you do not have any hulls that are longer than the ones that work well. A longer hull than what your loader is set for will absolutely cause this. Been there done that on 12 gauge.

Some hulls have become separated from the brass and are over length of the normal hull. Check your hulls, make sure they are all very close to the same length. Other hulls are longer due to variations in manufacturing processes. Either way you will get a broken crimp starter.
