Upgrading my shotgun and I am stuck between the Beretta A400, Benelli Cordoba or the Benelli Super Black Eagle II. I use my shotgun for dove hunting, shooting clays and very rarely duck/geese hunting all done in South Texas. I have researched online but there is no definitive opinion either way. I have gone to the store and shouldered all 3 for an hour and they all seemed comparable. I have not had the chance to shoot any of them. I am looking for some opinions from people who have shot them before. Any advice would be appreciated. I plan on buying one within the next 3 days for an upcoming dove hunt.

I have a 20ga Benelli Cordoba, it's a fantastic shotgun , I use it for sporting clays , 5 stand and hunting every thing even ducks and geese over decoys, very easy to clean .Never had a problem , one day I will get the 12ga.
Lot of shooter are having problems with the Beretta A400 but loves them, every one I saw with a blue action [sporting model] has the problem that the extractor is damaging the chamber lip, the gun still functions but it's only a matter of time.I did not look at any other A400 action but I guess with time they will have the same problem, as clays shooters in general shoot lot more than hunters.
The Benelli SBE II is a great hunting shotgun.
In your place I will get the Cordoba, my experience is with the 20ga Cordoba only, sweet shotgun.

Definitely NOT alot a problems with the A400s in my area. Come to think of it, none, zip, zero.

My son shoots the Xcel sporting and i shoot the Xtreme. There are differences in the two but both have been very reliable. We use these for hunting and sporting.

I used to shoot a Benelli SS and a M-1 and they were great guns but i enjoy the Berettas' a little more. Can't go wrong either way.

HUH?? Whatchoo smokin' Willis?

I shot the A440 Xplor Unico - over 1 year and 10,000 rounds and no issues at all with ANY reloads or factory ammo; even this 3.5" goose gun handles my 3/4oz reloads - something NO Benelli can even come close to doing and it has less perceived recoil

Where are all of these problems happening? Please cite some threads or articles, else, I call BS

Not true, I have over 2,000 rounds through mine and not a single problem of the extractor lip getting chewed up, sure there have been one or two, but to say THEY and ALL are having this problem is just inaccurate, the A400's are great clay and hunting guns.

I have a 20ga Cordoba and a SS 12ga. I'm just a fan of Benelli. I use then for hunting and clays shooting.
I do have a Beretta Al391 and a Gold Target Tekney that stay in the safe.
I have not shot the A400.

Here's the thing... If you want a great dove gun, it's not a goose gun. And if you want a great goose gun, it's not a great dove gun.

An SBE is no clays gun.

Would you buy one rifle for hunting rabbits and moose?

You're in a high enough price range that I think that "slow down!" is the best possible advice. :)

That's why I like the Xplor, Barry - it works great for sporting and dove shooting and while MINE will never see 3, let alone 3.5 inch ammo, it's amazing how it handles my 3/4oz reloads with no issues at all

oneounceload, of the three, I certainly agree. I marked A400 also.

I selected A400 for the same reasons Barry and OOL mentioned.

The A400 is a great gun, wether you get the xcel or the unico for hunting, or even the extreme for that matter, Once they make the A400 xcel sporting in 20 gauge I'll own one of those too then.

I shoot with a few guys that have the winchester SX3 and they are not having any issues with theirs, all problem free rounds and great perofrmance, I will admit though that the Cordoba does call my name whenever I see one.

Hello:

I am partial to Benelli for the following reasons: well engineered piece of machinery; outstanding service form Benelli; and very little cleaning is necessary. A drop of lube on the bolt cam and and rails, change the action spring every 4-5k miles and it will run for 300k mikes.

The 5 year warranty is really a lifetime warranty when you call Benelli for service. I broke an extractor out of warranty and they sent me the complete bolt head-no questions. I picked up an extractor from MGM, but couldn't get the bolt head apart, so I sent it in they installed the new extractor on my original bolt head...requires a special offset punch to remove.

So now I have a spare bolt head/extractor for the next time it breaks.

Of course the A400 won hands down, its the latest and greatest. Re-do the same poll 3 years from now and I bet my good eye that there will be a different result.

No they will probobly have a A700. They change there lineup to often. They do make excellent quality guns though. I would like to own a old 390.
