Hey all I am looking into buying a new semi-auto Shotgun. I have shot an 870 forever and also have a super x2 which I am not too thrilled about. I am considering the Browning Maxus, Browning A5, Remington VersaMax and the Benelli Super Vinci. Any insight or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have shot the old style A5 but not one of the new A5's. Out of those you mentioned I prefer my Maxus Sporting. It fits me good and I shoot it well. I'm not sure of all the differences between the guns mentioned, I would shoulder as many as you can and see what you think. Other forum members will have more info that might help in your decision. Good luck.

1) Why are you "not too thrilled" with your SX2?

2) Other than just buying, what is the application?

3) Is a 3-1/2 in chamber needed? Why or why not?

I more or less had bought the X2 out of impulse and it never has felt just right. I have also had problems with it cycling certain loads. This includes heavier waterfowl loads. As for the application I am an avid waterfowl hunter and I live in South Dakota so pheasants are always getting shot!! As for sporting clays I have an over and under I shoot so this is not going to be a huge deal for this gun.

Then that knocks out the A5 which is 3 inch only, and the lightest gun of the group-- the most enjoyable pheasant gun of the bunch, though.

If you want walnut, the Maxus is all that's left.

I actually prefer a Camo 26". I have done some research and the versamax is only available in hardwoods and I would prefer MODB or Max 4. The local gun shop also has a super vinci in bottomland camo( I was told it was 1 of 500 made). So I guess I am down to the maxus and super vinci.

I personally like the Maxus much better out of those two choices. But people that like Benelli's really like them.

I would never let a particular camo type/color be a factor in a gun choice.

To me, fit, feel, function, reliability, cost vs. Value, customer service, etc., are much more important.

Then just get the one that fits and feels the best to you.

I've had a maxus hunter for about 2 weeks now l. It looks and feels great. I've shot it three times so far and two out of three times it's been perfect but the other time it fte twice and trigger got stuck. after reading online others have had this problem with the the trigger sticking. thankfully I don't live too far from arnold, mo and will probably make a drive to the service department.
