I just bought a used pacific 266 press with both 12 and 20 gauge shot. It is currently set up for 20 gauge shells and I need to change it to 12. Can anyone help me on this, or is there a decent user's manual on the web? I tried Hornady's website but could only find a parts list. Also, any help on setting up the press and getting started in reloading would be helpful. Lyman's shotshell reloading manual 3rd edition came with the press, is this okay or do I really need a newer edition, I don't plan on using the loads from the lymans manual I'll get newer data from the powder manufacturers.

Thanks,
Sven

Well, yes I can, and I do have a manual too. They are quite simple to set up, start with the first station, resizing/depriming and get it correct and adjust everything else from that point. Make sure when the lever is completly down, ram high as possible, the dizing die is flush, snug to the base. Then adjust the primer seating stem, wad seating stem/shot and powder tube, and pre crimp and final crimp dies to be correct at that position. 15 minutes tops gets it done!

I have 2 - Pacific 266 reloading presses in 12ga, I would like to trade a set of 266 - 12ga dies for a set of 266 - 20ga or buy a set of 266 -20ga dies. I also have 3 - 366 reloading presses that I would like to sell. 1 - 28ga, 1 - 20ga and 1 - 12ga at $250.00 each, plus actual shipping cost, all complete.

The dies for the 150, 155, 260, and 266 are the same. One can even adapt Bair dies to work in the 266 without much difficulty. It's mostly in the adjustment. The sizing and crimp dies were slightly different, but that doesn't preclude their usefulness. I'm not so sure you couldn't make several of the dies out of the 366 work in the 266 too. You wouldn't use all of them, but the sizing, crimp starting and first crimp finish body die will work. You won't have room for the final crimp rounding die on the last station of a 366, but you probably don't need it anyway. The shells holders would be completely different, but in using the 266 one never needs the rim lip to pull the shell out of the die anyway. I think you probably can get a shell holder for 20 ga from Hornady if you absolutely needed it, it's the 16 and 28 ga that are like hen's teeth. Even at that, it wouldn't take a half handy guy with a few metal working tools and a torch or welder to make shell holders for the 266. BTW, I got both my 28ga and 16 ga dies of ebay. Got to just keep alert. I'll not even say how much I gave for the 28 ga set. The 16s were a few bucks more, but a bargain at twice the price.

Go here for a DL-266 manual:

http://www.hornady.com/assets/files/man ... loader.pdf

Hornady has manuals for both current and discontinued presses on-line.
