It would appear that the Lyman Cutts Compensator choke tubes are becoming scarce. Does anyone know of a source for the choke tubes or do you just have to get lucky and find thenm on GI, GB or E-Bay?
Thanks.
Larry

The last thing you said. Lyman may still have 12 gauge. Also try Brownell.

lowgun,
I tried Brownells as they were supposed to have purchased all of Lyman's Cutts inventory
I could not find them on their site.
Thanks,
Larry

Corson's Barrels have a lot of Cutts Compensator tubes and parts, if you want something right now. On the other hand, if you can wait, just about everything comes up on ebay and quite often for a lot less money!!

There were six different fixed choke 12-gauge Cutts Compensator Tubes --

1. Spreader

2. .755 (improved cylinder?)

3. .725 Modified Choke

4. .705 Full Choke

5. .690 Long Range No. 1

6. .680 Long Range No. 2

In the 16-, 20- and 28-gauges and .410-bore there were Spreader, Modified and Full. And, most were available in both steel or aluminium alloy, but the .690 Long Range No. 1 and the .680 Long Range No. 2 were omly offered in steel.

Once you get your choke tubes, try to find the walnut wood box that they sold to hold them. They are hard to find but really cool. If you look at the Winchester albums under my name you can see photos of one I found on E Bay. By the way, I found that the choke tubes really work very well whether it is the spreader, IC, Mod, or full. Good luck.

If I read the information correctly, there wasn't ever a Lyman Cutts IC choke tube available for either the 28ga or 410, correct? I have two (SPR) marked chokes in .410 - they are both steel chokes but are different lengths. The long one is approximately 3" long and the short one is just under 1" in length. Does anyone know the difference (or purpose) for the different SPR length chokes?

Hello all and hope someone can assist me. Just bought a Armalite AR-17 12ga (photos to follow) which was originally sold with three screw on chokes but they didn't have the full choke for it. I've read that a Lyman choke will fit the Armalite AR-17. I would prefer to get an original choke but I'm guessing that's going to be pretty hard to do. Does anyone know anything about this shotgun and if the Lyman chokes will fit it and if so where can someone order Lyman chokes

thanks

Lord, every short .410 Cutts tube I ever saw I suspected it was cut off to open the pattern.

After reading the above I remembered that I had a empty wood cutts book in my Winchester store. So I thought I would post it. To my surprise when I went down there I found that I had three and one was for 410 with all the tubes and also the wrench. The others are a 410 and a 12ga.....Larry

The .410 Cutts tube set in a box is a rare find. I have not seen a 28 box, so I assume the 28, 20, and 16 boxes are the same box.

I'm not having any luck trying to do PM - keeps telling me I sending to too many recipients.

Larry, would you consider selling that set of 410 chokes you found?

Ken
