It's light and quick. Not sure what they're going for, now. Remind me what you want to do with it.

Oh, it'd be a nice quail gun, for sure. :)

Check gunbroker for what they've been selling for, though.

I've got both a Franchi Veloce with 26" barrels and a Beretta 686E Sporting Clays model with a steel receiver. The Franchi is a field model with a light weight aluminum alloy receiver. It's a great field gun and it doesn't do too bad at the games either. If you plan to shoot it a LOT then the Beretta is probably the better buy but if you are going to only shoot it more than the average bear, then the Franchi will last a lifetime. I think the Franchis are one of the most under rated guns there are.

The White Wing probably weighs about as much as the Franchi, but points better.

The 20 Gauge White Wing is about as far from a Sporting Clays model as you can get, so a comparison to a 12 Gauge Sporter is irrelevant, one way or another.

Bluebook says the Beretta Whitewing is valued at $975.00 at 100% condition, and $575.00 at 90% condition. Made from 1999 thru 2003. There are better deals out there.

The Blue Book is a Catch-22. Gun dealers use it as a Bible for gun value, Fjestads surveys gun dealers to see what certain guns are bringing and then compiles that information to print a value based on the going price of guns being sold.

So, which is it, the chicken or the egg?

$1299 does sound too high for a White Wing.

You can pick up a 20 Gauge 28" Beretta Silver Pigeon I for $1800 brand new, or used for $1500 at Cabela's, not exactly the place to pick up the cheapest used guns. $975 does sound more like it, for one in good shape.

Here's a White Onyx that looks to be in new condition: http://www.cabelas.com/product/Beretta- ... y&Ntt=onyx

That would be my absolute ceiling on price. Remember you can usually haggle a bit.

The Blue Book of Gun Values has a lot of information in it. It shows you how to rate used guns from 100% condition down to 10% condition. On certain models it can tell you what year your gun was made. It talks about the Browning salt wood guns. It really helps when shopping for a new or used gun. A dealer usually gives you the 60% value for your gun and turns around and sells it in the 90% condition range. I try to buy a used gun in the 70% condition price range of the Blue Book value range. That way I feel I can always get most of money back if I decide and sell it. Its a great resource.
