I started to use NSI primers and noticed that most sleeves contain one that looks like the one in the middle of this picture. Missing the red cover or sealant material. Will these still fire or should I continue to remove them?

They'll fire just fine as long as you aren't using a really fine ball type powder. I use Titewad and clays with no issues. I asked the very same question a few months back. I've loaded almost 5000 so far.

Just load them up and shoot them, have not had an issue for about 10 years of using them

NobelSport primers. Just another brand; NobelSport Industries (NSI). They are similar in strength to Win 209 and can usually be substituted for them.4061T-234

They work fine unless you are using them in really cold temps

I think the last primers made with open flash holes, were the Rem. 97* primers, which were discontinued in about 1982. The primers that followed were designated as 209 primers, and had covered flash holes.
