I registered way back in Jun 2011, but this is my first post. As back then, I am interested in shooting, learning the different games, and reloading. I shot a couple of rounds of trap and 5 stand/skeet? (heck I;m not sure what I did) around 2004. Recently at a range that has some mounted clay pigeon throwers I broke a few with my 12 and 20 shotguns. It has captured my interest and I will shoot a round of sporting clays in the next week or so. I also plan to revisit trap and skeet shortly as well. As far as reloading I came across a MEC 9000 at a good price way back when, I have some reading and cleaning to do. This site has been an excellent resource in answering questions I've had.

Carters Country and American Shooting centers in Houston are really the only shotgun ranges I know about in Houston. Are there other and better choices?

There's Westside near Katy http://wsgclays.com

Able's in Huntsville http://ablesgunclub.com

Greater Houston GC near Pearland http://www.greaterhoustongunclub.com

Claymound in Liberty https://www.claymoundsporting.com

The first 3 are private. I think Claymound is public. Getting in the door at Westside and Ables is much easier on the wallet. Greater Houston probably has a long wait list as well.

Of the two you are already going to, I prefer American. The targets are better and you have 5-stand/Sporting as well. Getting a membership at ASC and buying tokens in bulk will save you a lot of money if you shoot a lot.
