You can add Fred Missildine and D. Lee Braun to that list.

That'd be pretty cool. My vote goes to Chip Cosgrove. Best shooter I've ever seen. I'm not too shabby myself but I feel like a little kid when I shoot with him.

I'm not sure how he'd stack up compared to some of the big guns out east but I'm sure he'd do very well. He sure whups up on us around here.

Dave Starrett should probably be in the Top 5 or 6. Probably the most under rated shooter of all time.

IMO it's hard to compare the shooters pre pre-mount and the top shooters of today with tube sets, auto's and reliable ammo. Some of them may have been better than any of todays shooters it's just hard to compare. Try running 100's in the 410 with a pump gun like some of them have done.

Some would add Ed Scherer to that list. (Fast Eddie would DEFINATELY have added himself to that list! )

Just finished reading Fred Missildines book on skeet shooting. Lots of good info there. Must have been a top shooter also. Is this Bender fellow really the Hot Shot that every claims. Or is he just selling books and coaching time.?

One thing about Bender that cannot be denied. He has great respect amongst his peers in the United States and, also, in Europe, particularly, in the UK, for his dedication to being a champion, but, also, his willingness to share that knowledge through professional instruction.

Skeet shooting is an unusual sport in that you can get an in-person lesson from the best in the game.

You can't get a personal less from Tiger Woods, but you can from Bender, on an organized and regular basis.

bender dosnt do it pro-bono though. im sure if you paid tiger enough he would be more than willing to give lessons.

this is not to bash bender, i like him, but he isnt out doing charity work, his clinics are how he makes money.

Yea im pretty sure my uncle Fred Missildine would be #1. I highly doubt that your number one guy holds more than 28 world records. Image

I believe he does run special clinics for some of the guys working at Little Creek and Dam Neck in Virginia.

That reminds me, he actually has a charity set up for SEALs based on 100 straights I believe.

One poster mentioned Grant Illseng. He belongs on the list as a multitalented all around competitor as well as a world record holding NSSA shooter. It would be hard to eliminate the top shooters of the low gun, delay timer era. Maybe we really can't lump the modern era shooters with the early ones.

I'm surprised no one mentioned LP Giambrone. Based on his age, he has the potential to shoot many 100s in the .410 and if he keeps playing, i have no doubt he can catch up to Wayne. If not Wayne, then at least Todd He has won numerous World Championships too.

It is very difficult to be objective and determine who is the best of the best. But, you are right about Wayne and Todd being the top two in skeet. And for those who may not know, Wayne is a pretty darn good trap shooter too!

You left out Luke Deshotels, the only man I have ever seen that could practice 4 rounds and then go out and shoot a 4by.
