I recently got a Ulti Mag 835, 28" Accu Choke barrel, original blotchy camo for a VERY good price (under $200).
Questions:
Can I have the barrel cut back to a shorter length for turkey hunting/home security use?
Or, is there a shorter turkey length barrel available?

I have searched exhaustively on the net for these answers and can't find the info.
Can someone here PLEASE HELP?

From the Mossberg website...
835 Ulti-Mag 12 Gauge Turkey Barrel, FO Sights - 24"
835 Ulti-Mag 12 Gauge Turkey Barrel, FO sights - 20"

They're on sale right now for $209.10 each.

Tell you what, I wouldn`t let that stop me. If you paid less than 209 skins for an 835 and it`s in good shape, you got a steal IMHO.

Please check www.corsonsbarrels.com. They list 835 barrels.

A LGS near me is going OOB after 50 years, everything of sale, I just grabbed a new 835 28" for $300, NIB, scored the rack sample for $275, one small nick in the camo near the muzzle. Just missed a 935 for $450, NIB by a few minutes.

YES......out of the closet, I like my Mossberg's!

Welcome to ShotgunWorld, rwmeyers. Your current barrel has a 12 gauge chamber but a 10 gauge cylinder bore. Is it possible that you are new to shotgunning? If you cut your barrel then you lose its Accu-choke system. You appear to be concerned about more expenditures for your 835. Pattern your barrel with a #95267 XXFull Accu-choke for turkey hunting, $44.67 from cheaperhandirt or look for a used one on e-Bay or Gunbroker, and hunt with your barrel for two or three seasons. Remember that not that many decades ago, basically all turkey hunters used long barrels.

Just a reminder: call Mossberg if you want the 835 security barrel for HD, because you cannot shoot slugs from your current barrel. Good luck, sir.

A+ on the Accu-Mag choke tubes, chased my tail for years and now find the Mossberg factory choke work as good as any, to many get caught in the super choke/super pattern hype. I prefer a long barrel on my turkey hunting 835, but then I'm a senior, old school.

I'm with all you 835 lovers! Since I finished passing the other guns to the family I find I like the 835 best, fits me perfect, easy care, no need to fret over a scratch or a bit of rain.......just makes my life simple!

Do I miss the Ithaca's, old Remington's and Browning's no, I enjoy seeing the kids and grandkids enjoy them!

Our OP waited less than four hours for an answer from us and has not returned since. Let us hope that he will have more patience when hunting turkeys than he has shown to us.
