 Post subject: Mossberg 935 and Warranty service

Recently found a used 935 Turkey in camo at a pawn shop for a heck of a deal. Had a little finish wear, but was fully functional. Got it home and decided I wanted fiber optic sights on front and back, it only had a front fiber bead. Bought a set and went to install and discovered the vent rib on the barrel was not square. I put a level on both ends of the vent rib and I would say it was out 5-10 degrees easily. So to zero the pattern, the rear sight was as far right as possible. So I thought I would install a red dot, well the rear 2 base screw holes are off center. Sooo....
I called Mossberg to complain and the guy asked me if I had bought it new, I said no. However after explaining my issues, he said that it would be warranted and to send it in.

So Fedexed it to them and got a notification that they received it and would be 6-8 weeks to get it back. I called after about 4 just to check status and was told it was assigned to a gunsmith. After about 6 weeks got email saying it was being returned to me. I now have a brand new barrel on it that has a straight vent rib and had front and rear fiber optic sights on it. I am not 100% sure, but I think they replaced the trigger group and the recoil spring seems a little stiffer. They did not however fix the drill and tap issue on the receiver (which would have either required drilling new holes in front of the old ones or a new gun). Needless to say, I am quite happy that they fixed the barrel issue at no cost to me except shipping to them. Went out and shot it and it is flawless. Even shot some 2 3/4" shells.

Kudos Mossberg!!

Moral of the story, even if an item is out of warranty, it never hurts to call the manufacturer and see if they will help you out. Worse they can tell you is "no".

I shoot a 935 and yes they do kick like a mule when patterning but you'll never know it when shooting at a turkey. I shoot 3" only and never have had a problem with it. Great gun!!

Just got email from them yesterday saying they have stopped selling to Dick's Sporting Goods. Springfield recently made the announcement also, maybe other manufacturers will follow suit and speak loudly for us.
