Good evening.

Unless something major changes my next shotgun purchase will be a CZ sharptail. My question is does the 16 gauge have a scaled frame or is it 16 gauge barrels on a 12 gauge frame. I really like 16 gauge guns, and regularly use a Remington 11 48, but would prefer something smaller and lighter for hunting this fall. If it's a 12 gauge frame, then I will be opting for the 20 gauge version of the Sharptail for bunny season this year.

Thanks

Have they added the 16 gauge to the lineup of Sharptails? When I bought my 28 gauge, they only had the 12/20/28 and .410. I had the Ringneck in 16 gauge, but did not like the fixed chokes or the trigger.

Ops. I just checked the site and there it was, but still fixed chokes, so I am glad I ordered a Rizzini.

I think the frame on the 16 gauge Ringneck though was specific for 16 gauge, but am not positive.

Bob

I have the Ringneck 16 ga which is on a scaled frame, but the CZ website lists the 12 ga Sharptail and 16 ga Sharptail as both weighing 7.3 pounds. The 20 ga is listed as 6.3 pounds which is about what a scaled frame gun should weigh. On my 16 ga Ringneck, the gun weighs 7.5 pounds, but that is less than the 12 ga Ringneck. I can't say for sure, but I'm suspicious that the 16 ga Sharptail may be on a 12 ga frame. The fixed choke issue is easily resolved by a trip to Briley, so would not be a deal breaker for me. I just got my .410 Ringneck back from Briley where they installed a set of Thinwall chokes and resolved a slight regulation issue at the same time. Nice folks to deal with and a fairly quick turnaround too.

For anyone who is curious, I finally spoke with a cz rep. The ringneck was a 16 gauge frame with 12 gauge barrel blanks, but the sharptail is 12 gauge sized all the way, which takes away the main attribute I like in a 16 gauge. Oh well, looks like my 16 gauge itch will need to wait until I can order something nicer.
