YOUR EYES NEED TO SEE. ... MAKE SURE YOUR DOMINATE EYE IS BETTER THAN THE OTHER.
I shot 40/20 the whole winter league never realizing how bad my dominate eye was. did awful. A trip to the eye doctors and a correct set of contacts WOW what a difference.

Unless your dominant eye is not your dominant shooting side, then boost your non-dominant eye which is looking down the barrel.

I’m a unique situation. I have a degenerative eye disease that really started claiming my vision about 3-4 years ago. I actually just had a surgery done on my left eye last week for it. It halts the progression but doesn’t improve vision. I had the operation done on my right eye first back in February as a last effort to save any useful vision in that eye.

In order to actually see, I have to wear a pair of scleral RGP contact lenses. Which are uncomfortable as all get out. This is why I enjoy shotgun shooting more so than rifle. My vision is too poor to shoot rifle from my dominant side. My right eye is by far the worst eye. I’m actually legally blind in that eye if it weren’t for those special contacts. With the contacts I get good vision but my right eye lacks the ability to focus. For example. I see double crosshairs in many Rifle scopes and a 1” bullseye looks to be about a 1.5” bullseye with my right eye. Good enough to hunt but never shoot great.

Point being. You are 100% correct. Eyesight is the most important sense when it comes to shooting so as shooters you should all take time to see your eye specialist at least once a year.

I don't have dominate eye problems, but I'm ready for a set of glasses.
Tip of the year: Don't get old.

Now you tell me! I took my grandson to shoot skeet yesterday and discovered that my state of decay is more advanced than I feared. At least wild birds aren’t doing 55 mph on the flush.
