I just got a browning double automatic and the stock is made of 2 pieces. Was this done at the factory. It is a very good match and it looks like a factory job.
Any one else noticed this?

I have three DA’s and none of them have two piece stocks. I have never seen such a thing on any DA I’ve ever seen.

They are unique and fun guns to shoot. Maybe yours is more unique than most.

I had to look closely and remove the butt plate to verify that it is 2 pieces. Very good wood match and fit.

It could be a repair. It doesnt look like it though.

Could it be simply a very straight, natural grain line and natural variation?

I'd love to see pictures as well. Can you explain where the seam is on the stock? I assume cwe are talking buttstock, not forestock?

The top inch of the butt stock appears to be another piece of wood.

Thank you for your comments

I would post pics but there doesnt seem to be a non intrusive, incognito way to get a picture into a post.
Any suggestion appreciated.

This gun, a carbon steel receiver, appears to have an aluminum alloy trigger guard. Is this normal?

Yes, the aluminum trigger assembly in the steel receiver is the norm for that receiver. The DAs typically had anodized aluminum receivers in a variety of colors (cutting edge in the day), and all trigger assemblies are aluminum.

My thinking is someone adjusted the drop at comb to meet their individual preference. Frequently a piece of wood is added to raise it for trap, some could have been removed to lower it?

This gun has markings indicating that it is imported. In addition, there is no markings that say it is a Browning gun. The barrel is marked FABRIQUE NATIONALE D'ARMES GUERRE HERSTAL BELGIUM There is a small FN in front of the serial number. The serial number is C25XXX.
What does this mean?
and
Does anyone have the stock dimension for a DA. (drop at comb and heel LOP)

My thought is a repair or modification. Does the finish look redone?

The finish does not look redone. The checkering is particularly crisp.

If this is a repair it is very well done.

Still looking for dimensions
