I bought a Charles Daly Miroku Venture grade O/U in 12 ga off Gunbroker as a restoration project back in December 2017.

I finally completed the project and took it out to fire. The selector switch does not work. I can only fire the top barrel first. I tore apart the receiver and discovered that there is a piece of metal in the safety/selector slot that runs from the top left corner to the middle of the right side. This has the effect of forcing the safety/selector switch over to the left to fire the top barrel.

The Venture grade was supposed to be the "bottom" grade gun for Miroku so it would make sense to have a "cheap" gun that did not have a functioning selector switch.

Does anyone else have a gun like this? Is there a workaround that does not involve major gunsmithing?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have a field grade Miroku/Daly, but it has a non selectable trigger. It fires the bottom barrel first.

It would seem to me it would be cheaper to make a gun without a selector switch than to have it and disable it. Maybe someone bubba'd it.

I'd contact B&C Gunsmithing

They seem to be the go to shop for Charles Daly/Miroku guns.

Could have been owned by a trap shooter that wanted just the top barrel fired.

Generally the top barrel is choked tighter than the bottom.

Have you tried removing that piece of metal blocking the selector switch.
