I'd like to buy #9 in the Win AA 410 1/2oz target loads, but I'm only finding #8 right now... wanting to take advantage of a sale and the rebate this week. The #8 give 205 pellets, the #9 is 292... is the #8 OK for skeet or a $$ waste?

Never shot 410 before, but I've got a set of Kolar tubes that came with my 682, so thought I might buy a flat and give it a try. For 28ga I shoot 3/4oz of #9 and usually get 23 or 24 in skeet. Or should I wait for #9 since this is just a "one time" purchase to mess around with the 410 tubes, but I don't have plans to shoot it or reload it... thought my wife might like it or some such.
Thx

If it were me just shooting skeet targets I would hold out until I could find some #9 loads for it has so many more pellets per shell. The aa rebate last til September you may can find them online at academy for 8.99/box now delivered.

Thx. Yep, Academy only has the #8 and a 10% mil sale going on I didn't want to miss. Just hoping to hear from a 410 skeet shooter on whether #8 works OK ;)

For practice 8's are okay for skeet.
I load 8's all summer because that's all I find available.
When the scoresheet comes out on the skeet field, I'm shooting AA factory 9's.
At home I load 8.5's and use them for all .410 fun clay shooting.

Wish the 9s were avail but oh well, Academy military 10% off sale too good to miss out on when combined with the Win AA rebate, free shipping and no tax! ;)

I ordered two flats of 9's from Academy and sent in the rebate form.
Be careful, .410 is addictive. I enjoy it above all others.

I used #8.5 & #9 for skeet and both worked fine. Never tied #8 for skeet but did break a few 40 yard shots that impressed a G gun sponsored shooter with the AA418HS ammo on the sporting clay's course.

Well I shot 410 today with my tubes, borrowed 2 boxes from a buddy of #9 Estate. Really fun, I got a 23/25 in skeet on one, so about what I do with my 12ga 3/4oz loads.

Looking forward to my ammo showing up... I might have ordered a bag of wads just in case heh... Turns out I have a 410 die set for my PW375C so just might have to try a reload.
