And RM, you're going to approve of this one. She is a Spanish lady, 16 ga double, with 26" barrels.

Imported by Stoeger, sometime in the late 50's or 60's, from the sketchy info I read, all second hand. Inscribed "Zephyr Pinehurst. Some say the maker for these was Victor Sarasqueta. I have not ascertained that provenance.

I haven't measured the castoff, but I pulled a line and eyeballed it as a scant 1/8". That will be easy to rectify to cast on, but I already broke a few clays with the gun this afternoon, and I'll go slowly with deciding how much to bend.

My impression of the fixed chokes is that they are tight and tight. This is guess work - I either missed without a chip, or more often pulverized the clay. I may be missing the fact that it's cast off, and I need some cast on.

Hop boy!

Nice find, that should be a box lock by one of the better Spanish makers. Are you going to send the barrels off to Mike Orlen to be opened up, or Brileys for a set of thinwall chokes? Also, you forgot pichers for us gun porn addicts.

Pichers?!

If you knew how hard it is for me to TAKE a picher, you'd easily infer how hard it is to transmogrify onto the infernal net!

Surf the Spanish forum sticky threads and look up the marks found on the receiver's water table and you can find the maker. Plus the year it was made.

OBTW, when you get it bent and you need a second left hander's opinion of the gun you can send it to me and I'll long term test it for you. :P

Kind offer; I'll think about that. Meantime, I'm on my way to the Spanish guns forum. Thanks.

I'd be interested in the results from your perusal of the Spanish guns forum. I found it very helpful when I bought my Uggie.
