It's a 16 gauge, so the general lack of interest in that gauge tends to limit the production numbers. Then, it's a mid-grade which further suppresses production. Rare? No; Uncommon? Yes.

You have a rare and gorgeous gun. If it were mine, I would contact Browning and get the history on it. There are 16ga collectors that may be very interested in this gun. The tiger stripe wood looks superior for a grade III. Great wood usually commands a premium price. I am not a Citori collector. If I were and was looking for a Citori 16ga grade III, I would want the gun in “as new” condition and factory original. Any aftermarket alterations, improvements, or modifications may take it out of “collectible” status.

The Browning historian may be able to tell you the number in this production. He may also have a narrative if it was a limited run. If collectibility is a non-issue for you customize it to fit your needs and taste and enjoy it. Great find in the proper caliber !!!

I just bought it to use it as a trap gun, I will be sending the butt stock off to have an adjustable comb installed.

It’s your gun, but chop up the stock to put on an adjustable comb and you’ll diminish the value by at least $500. There are other ways to raise the comb without cutting the stock.
