Grandaughter , 14 YO, started shooting skeet and trap a couple months back.
I bought a BT micro midas for trap. She is short and a bit under 100 lbs.
She has no problem with the 12 ga BT 99 even after 150 rnds fired
I had bought he a Browning Cynergy 20 ga micro midas for skeet but had to send it in to get fixed. It functions fine but when opening and closing it has a weird catchy thing going on.
She shot her Weatherby 20ga SA08 composite the other day for skeet. She was shooting those cheap federal shells, says it kicked much more that she remembered.
So she went down and handled a bunch of shotguns. her favorite was a Benelli Montefetro in 12ga.Says it felt best in her hands and sight picture was best
So my question is, will it kick any harder than the 12 ga BT99 shooting the same loads? The BT99 weighs 11 oz more.
The Benelli will most likely be a standby gun once the Cynergy is returned
The Weatherby kicks harder in 20 ga than the BT99 in 12ga. So seems to me a Benelli in 12 will be ok, but I have never fired one to know.

Yes, it will kick harder than the BT-99, and far more than the SA-08. The montefeltro is a fine upland gun, but a poor choice for a target gun- especially for a smaller shooter.

A 12 gauge Montefeltro is not a good clays gun for a 14 year old girl. It is too light.

It will only be used on clays if the gun she uses for skeet is broke.
It is to be her hunting gun primarily.
The weatherby youth SA 08 in 20 ga, kicks harder than the Browning BT 99

There are a lot of Montefeltros around so you should be able to find one to try.

You are drawing unconnected conclusions. Perceived recoil has many different factors. The BT 99 is a much heavier gun than the Weatherby. The Montefeltro is also a very light gun. The BT 99 doesn't kick less because it is a 12 gauge and therefore the 12 gauge Benelli will kick less. Weight and gun fit are almost always the issue with recoil.

We have to take the weight of the gun into consideration when we talk about perceived recoil.
A lot of 20 gauge guns kicked more than 12 gauge because of its weight.

If recoil is a concern, get a recoil device, it's an inexpensive solution than buying another gun.
When such device is available to us, there's no reason to risk our shoulders.
150 rounds per session is a lot for a 14 year old, the effects to her shoulder and back may not show for years.
