Please excuse my ignorance but what is involved in fitting a different barrel assembly to a model 12? I have a field grade 12 ga with a 28" full choke bbl. I am considering a 26" WS1 barrel assembly with skeet wood on it. Is this something that would require gunsmithing or is it just some adjustments that I can do myself?

THANK YOU!
This is why I love shotgunworld. The wealth of knowledge and willingness to help is amazing.
It will depend on the price of a new forend if I go ahead with this project, or just keep looking for a whole different gun. Thanks Bobcat.

Is it possible to fit a regular barrel assembly from a 2,3/4” gun onto a heavy duck receiver?
I know you could only use 2,3/4” shells. Just wondering if the slide action bars were different lengths or other incompatibility issues would exist?
