I have recently come in to possession of a Stevens Mod 167 "WESTPOINT" .410 ga. pump shotgun in like new condition. I am unable to locate a serial #. Can you tell me about this gun?

It's a Savage/Stevens model 67 , I can't remember if Westpoint was a tradename used by Savage/Stevens or if it was a short-lived one used by Western Auto.

You probably won't find a serial number due to it being manufactured prior to 1968 when the Gun Control Act of 1968 was passed, it among other things, required serial numbers on firearms.

Like new condition it's probably worth $200

I have located numerous feferences to mod 67, but am unable to find anything on mod 167. I thought the extra digit might have indicated some special status (pre/post mod67,change of manufacturer, etc). Any thoughts ?

The 167 was simply for the Westpoint tradename, these were utility grade guns so you won't find a lot of info on it.

"Westpoint" was a trade name used by Savage for arms sold by Cotter & Company.

Another note that I have is that "Westpoint" was a trade name used "on guns made by Cotter & Company". So it seems that Cotter had something to do with Westpoint guns.
