Just saw "The Professionals" with Lee Marvin. I have to get a Norinco M97. Can not afford a real Winchester.
Anyone here own one? Any problems with it? Your impressions of it?

I have two Norinco 1911's and they are utterly reliable and accurate. The steel is superior to anything made today in the US. Can you give me a source for the "soft steel" comment? I really want to investigate that. What would they used forged steel for the 1911's and not for the shotguns?
By some of your responses, guess I am not being "PC" enough for this crowd. Everyone at this board buys things from CHINA everyday. No way around that.
I have heard that the first 200,000 were crap, but that the most recent stuff is very good. The first ones had cheap wood on them also, but the newer ones have Walnut.
They are used very much in Cowboy Action Shooting and have gotten a pretty good reputation.
If anyone can provide some detailed first hand comments, with politics aside, I would really appreciate it.

40 or so years ago we laughed at Japan. Korea was next. The quality of Chinese goods will continue to improve as they already have... wisecracks or not.

Gun Tests Magazine tested the Norinco M97 against an original, Win. M97 sometime ago and their "politically incorrect" conclusion was that the Norinco M97 was a superior gun to the original.

We're not talking about shoes or ball caps here, were talking about a firearm. I've seen a lot of stuff that says MADE IN CHINA but if you look at the company you can see that it was either designed in Japan or America. They may be building things in China, but they are not designing them, so if you get the chance to buy an authentic Chinese shotgun I would walk away.
