I'm looking for a Beretta folding single-barrel shotgun. This is not a trap gun, it is an inexpensive under-lever single that folds double at the hinge.

Variations of this model have been known as the Model FS-1, Model 412, and in Italian it is known as Monocanna Ripieghevole. Beretta made some of them in Brazil as well as Italy, before they sold their Brazilian factory to Taurus. I don't know whether Taurus ever made them. Copies were made by another Italian company and were sold in the US as the Galef Companion. I have seen the name "Polaris" used in a way that suggests it is another copy, but I haven't been able to verify that.

I would consider any maker, although I would prefer a Beretta.

I would consider any gauge, although I don't really like .410's (I can't hit anything with them).

So you ask, "Why would anybody want a gun like that?"

So I answer, "Because I don't have one!"

I put a bid in on that one several days ago, but I was quickly outbid.

It went for $332+25 shipping, + FFl fee at the buyer's end, which would make it cost $380 or more. The Blue Book value is only $175. I never put a lot of faith in BB values, but that is out of line, especially for a 12 ga gun.

Millwright, you had to go way back into the dusty archives to find this thread! Even my name has changed since then!

Since then I have found and bought a 20 gauge Beretta Vittoria, also known as "Companion". I paid about $110 for it, but they are generally going for more than that. Its a neat little gun, but not very practical. It weighs less than 5 pounds and has a metal buttplate, so it will kick the snot out of you, even with light loads.

I have no idea where to get parts and barrels. It is hard enough to find the guns, much less parts for them. One of them, by any one of the several makers, will show up on GunBroker or GunsAmerica now and then.

I still would like to find a 28 gauge Beretta. I have never seen one for sale, but I am sure they exist.

Thanks for the tip. I checked it out.

I posted the original post 4 1/2 years ago, and in the meantime I bought a 20 gauge. The only one I would be interested in now is a 28 gauge, but they are scarce as hen's teeth. There was a 28 gauge on one of the internet auction sites recently, but it was not made by Beretta so I passed it up.

If it does not actually have the Beretta name on it, it was not made by Beretta, it is a copy. A number of different companies have made copies of the original Beretta model. Galef imported genuine Berettas for a while, but later they sold copies.

The 28 gauge Beretta Vittoriadoes exist. I have one that was passed on to me from my grandfather. Been my go to Grouse gun since I was 9 years old.

Hi, wondering if anyone can help me with information on an Eagle Arms Companion. The gun was made in Italy. It has a 30 inch barrell, full choke. On the Coat of Arms it has Arms Amunition. Am wondering who made it and any other information you could contribute would be most appreciated. Thanks
