I saw one today at a local shop. 12 ga., 26" barrels, nice wood, more than the normal engraving from others I have seen. Perfect barrels. What is everybody's take on these guns?

If under $500 Id jump on it....They make fine lite field guns that are easy to carry all day while out hunting...but a bit on the lite side for skeet/sporting clays unless you like sharp recoil

I have a model 100 they are super shooters, check the buttstock over real well they have a tendency to crack mine has multiple cracks and needs restocked. Stocks seem to be impossible to come by so I will have to have one made. But if it fits you and has no cracks and good wood to metal fit BUY IT.
Also is it a engraved model or a plain reciever?

T-bird,

I'd definitely jump on that. I'm still kicking myself over a used Model 200 in 20 ga that I missed last year. I hesitated because it was choked too tight (mod and full) and had chrome-lined bores--meaning I would have been looking at a fair amount of $$$ to get it reamed out to IC and mod. I think the shop was asking $750 for it and probably would have taken $650, given the tight chokes. It's identical to the Model 100 but has more engraving and better wood. Pointed perfectly, nice balance, light weight overall. It was gone last time I stopped by the shop to check.

There was a fairly nice Model 100 at the Dallas gun show 2 weeks ago. The guy was asking $800 for it....a bit high I thought. I have one I bought new back in 1970...it was $169 back then.

What is the going rate for these in 20 gauge? I was just looking for one on Guns America and can't find one for under $795 and most are $995 and $1200+

I put a couple of bids on a 90% one that eventually went for $775. Are the prices on the SKB's starting to really go through the roof? Geez, that sucks. I just hunted with one last week and just loved it.

thanks,

Brad

Ithaca SKB doubles and O/U's are great guns. I have four....two 20's and two 12's. Nice finish, lightweight, strong actions and chromed barrels inside and out. The latest SKB Double was their model 385 and sold for $2000+ and is no longer imported into the USA. Probably why the older SKB/Ithaca's are creeping up in price. A friend bought one last week locally for $650...but it was mint.

That is what I have heard and observed Woodcanoeguy. My hunting buddy has a 12 and a 20 Ithaca/SKB Model 100 sxs and a Ithaca/SKB Model 585(?) 12 O/U. Good finish, very strong well built guns that haven't lost much in quality in the years that they have been used.

Do you (or anyone else) know of anyone that specializes in Ithaca/SKB doubles? Thanks much,

Brad

Last year I bought a 20 ga SKB 280E sxs for $1100 excellent condition. Shoots like a dream. That was the cheapest I could find where I live. I saw one the other day and they wanted $1495 for it. Great little guns.
