I was just gifted a 12 GA Auto 1100.
It needs no Intro, it's a 2-3 /4 shell only.

I'm looking for an O/U
I posted earlier about the Franchi alcione. However it doesn't seem to be offered in just 20.

Help me find some other options.

Thank you as always in advance, This is the most helpful online community on earth !!!

What would the main purpose of this 20 gauge be? That would help in making a suggestion.

Personally, I would look at the Sigarms Rizzini, the Browing Citori, the Beretta 686 models or the Ruger Red Label.

I own 3 of the 4 mentioned and they all are quality firearms and are a lot of fun to shoot.

Which ever you choose, try and shoulder them all and make sure they FIT before buying anything.

Good Luck!

I would recomend the Ruger red label . I have a 20ga 3 inch chambers , English style stock,it fits me well ,looks good too,it seems they use better figured wood on the straight stocks..Butch

Look for a nice used Beretta 686 or Browning Citori. They are going to fit a little differently so you will probably prefer the one that is best for you. If you can go out to the skeet field with each and see which one feels best to you. I don't have anything against Red Lagles but they can be a little difficult to sell if you decide to upgrade down the road. 20GA may be a little more desireable so that may not be such an issue. Try as many shotguns as you can and buy the one that feels best to you would be my advise.

If you look around on the internet, you can buy a new Browning Citori or a Beretta White Wing, Essential, or White Onyx for under 1500.
Franchi makes a 20g. but the model is called a Veloce but it's little better looking than Alcione model.:o
Good luck

I'm looking now at the verona model and also the weatherby.

Problem with Franchi is that they discontinued their veloce and alcione models, so i can't get any stores to order me one. I'm incredibly upset.

I'm also considering getting a used 20 ga. But don't know where to go here in South Florida, I have been to gun stores in Texas and it's mostly hunting arms, here it's all assault weapons and so unless I want to lead a second Bay of Pigs invasion with assault rifles there's little use in my going into the local gun stores.

If anyone knows of a gun store within 100 miles that has a nice selection of shotguns please let me know.

Joel Etchen is closing out on the 686E Sporting Beretta 20 ga with 30" barrels. I think it is right arround $1400. Very nice shotgun. I also have a Veloce 20 ga and a couple SIG/Rizzinis in 28 and .410. If you could find one of them in that price range, great, but right now the best 20 ga I'm aware of for the money is the Beretta 686E 20 ga and only place I know of with that kind of price is Joel Etchen Guns. BTW I have that gun also in 12 ga as well as a Trap Combo set. I forget right now if it is priced at $1395 or $1495, but either way, it is a fine shotgun. List price was $2008. Buy it, you'll like it!

The 12ga Citoris are on the heavy side, but in 20ga they feel perfect.

I don't fit a Beretta 686 12ga very well, but the 20ga model felt very nice to me and is a nice slim design.

A Weatherby Orion or SKB 505 is a very nice 20ga design as well, nice weight and balance. The SKB will be a very nice bargain, the Orion will be a little more cash but will have nicer furniture.

But will it fit me?
I know the White onyx or white something fit me, I tried it at Outdoorworld, they had it for 1500, but they said in 20 ga it's more.

I have a beretta 686 onyx and a browning citori superlight both in a 26 barrel, and both are 20 gauge. The english stock on the super light makes it a dream to carry in the field. Can't go wrong with the 686 either.I had a ruger red label,it was a little heavy compared with the other 2, I mentioned and the safety seemed cheap so I sold it.

Rinaldo,
Everything BP said and the 686e should fit you if a White onyx does, they both fit me. Joel Etchen is a top shelf outfit, call them and ask any questions you have. I'm sure they will be glad to help.

Rinaldo, I just looked at the Franchi web site and it shows the Veloce in 20 gauge. I would be surprised that they dropped the Veloce and Alcione models, they are both on their site. The alcione does not show a 20 gauge only but they do still have the model.

The Franchi isn't a bad choice. I looked a a new Veloce 20ga that has an extra set of 28ga barrels with it for $1800. I'm trying to figure out how to come home with it without the wife pitching a fit.

A shooting friend of mine older Franchi model 2005 Trap that has had a huge amount of shells put through it with no problems.

type of shooting will make a big difference in choice. Veloce is a very light gun. If shooting a lot, recoil would be an issue, even in 20ga. I've shot light 28Ga doubles which had a suprising amount of recoil...

have you seen the newer browning citori super lightning? It came out last year. Reciever styling may disqualify it off the bat.. but give it a chance. It's right at the top of your price point, but is a good feeling gun in my hands... I think we may see more trim schnebel type forearms from browning in the future.. at least I hope so..

best of luck..

Do yourself a favor and check out CZ Huglu's. Without a doubt they are the very best buy on the market. CZ Huglu has shown us that most firearms manufacturers are price gouging us.

I'm not going to nock the CZ/Huglu shotguns, but I'll state that when you do a real comparison of the Huglu and the Browning/Beretta thing, it becomes apparent why the Huglu is less money. Are they a good shotgun?? I dunno! I've heard about way more problems with the Huglus than all the Brownings and Berettas in the world combined. Hugly still has a ways to walk down that road to an earned reputation like Both of the "B" guns enjoy. I looked at them very seriously before I bought my Veloce, and a couple Berettas and Brownings, and I still chose to step up to the plate and buy the "B" gun instead. I doubt I'll have any problems with them, and I know that IF I do, I CAN get them fixed. Huglu, Dehan, CZ?? Who has parts for them? :?
