I am considering one of these for turkey season.
Looks like it could be a good knock around gun for the money.

Curious as to where they actually come from, anyone know?

If you have one do you "love" it?
Would you buy another?

Anyone send it back to get an accessory barrel fitted,
how did that go seems like it would be kind of a hassle ?

Thanks for your input.

They are made in China. From people that own them they're suppossed to be pretty well made.

Good knock around gun for the money.. Yes

Like Leo said, their made in China by Hawk Group Co. Ltd.

I wouldnt say that i love it, but it does get the job at hand done. (I've got the standard walnut stock model with 28" barrel)

Would i buy another.. Not really. Just for the simple fact that their made in China (supporting the chinese economy/goverment/military isnt my main goal. Although some people think it is. Eg.. http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewtop ... sc&start=0 ). I was kind of talked into buying one not realizing that they were made in China. At the time, i really needed a repeating shotgun and this was all i could afford. If it wasnt for that, Yes i would buy another one. I'm fairly satisfied with the quality.

The accesory barrel program is for NEF/HR's single shot guns only. Changing the barrel on the pump is as easy as unscrewing the mag cap, pulling the old barrel off, sliding the new barrel on, and tightening the mag cap back up. No tools required. Although they do make diferent barrels, i dont think you can buy them seperatly. They do have screw-in chokes though, so changing barrels isnt really nesecary unless you want a rifled slug barrel. Be aware that they only come with one choke tube though. Turkey gun comes with a turkey choke, and the others have a modified choke.

If your looking for an inexpensive gun to be used solely for turkey hunting, I would go with NEF's single shot fixed choke turkey gun. Second gun down on this page: http://www.hr1871.com/firearms/index.php?cat=3&subcat=2 . You can usually find them for a little over $100, and their made in USA.

Hope this helps.

I like the gun, I've had one problem with it and they fixed it under warranty, no problems.

It is my rainy day/ muddy don't care what happens to gun.

At the time i bought it i was a student and had no income and rent bills, now i have no rent bills and a steady income so i plan on getting a nice Remington or Winchester shotgun.

I looked at one Right before I bougtmy Mossberg. In hind sight I'm happy I passed it up. The reviews of them are not very high. And personaly I didn't like they fell of it or the fact that it said "Made in China" on the side of the reciever.

I Handled a few of these in a gunshop yesterday, appeared to be quite well made and smooth in operation, the gunshop guy said they had sold a bunch and only had one back for a small problem, seemed to be a better made gun than the Mossberg I thought.

My above post was a typo. Ther other reason I didn't buy it is becuase they wanted the same for that as they did for a good Mossberg. Aw well that place always is high when it comes to guns.

I think that might be a misprint.

It's probably not a typo. I bought one from Walmart for my kid(20 ga pump) it was the youth model so it had the shorter stock. It seems quite heavy for a youth gun but my kid seems to handle it well. Seems to be built pretty well. One of the older guys I have hunted with said it was a knock off of an older gun. I think he said maybe a knock off of an old Savage.

My kid knocked a pheasant out of the air with it this morning. It seems to have a pretty short barrel for hunting but it also seems to do the trick.

I don't think it would be a gun that I would buy for myself unless I was short on funds. But for a kids first gun, and not knowing whether he will continue to hunt or not... it's perfect. He can give it to his younger brother when he grows out of it.

This is an old thread.I brought one last year, quality seems pretty decent I liked it better than the maverick/mossberg pumps. It works reliably and has a smooth action,I must admit I was handling a couple of 2nd hand SKB 20 ga autos today and if I had to do it again I would get something like that instead. But the pardner pump does get the job done,no doubt about it.

Its a better gun than the Remington Express at half the price.

Its just the whole China thing that muddles things up.

I bought one of the youth models for my son for Christmas from Bass ($175.00 ish) and it worked great, very sold, patterned well with very little kick for a 12 year old that weighs 80 lbs.

Trouble came a month ago when it refused to cycle at all. I brought it back to Bass and they were great, sent it back and saved me the aggravation of sending it out. 10 days or so later I called and found out it was at a registered warranty shop. I called them, they had it and it would be a week or 10 days before they looked at it.

Called them back yesterday and they said the couldn't fix it (parts restraint) and had to send it back to NEF. Called NEF (this is where it gets frustrating) and they tell me they have had it for a week and typically it would take them 6-8 weeks TO LOOK AT IT. They told me that the parts were from overseas and they may or may not be able to fix it.

So if all goes well I should see it back 90 days after it went in. Not great and it looks like I will need to buy the boy another shotgun to shoot for the balance of the summer.

I will follow up on how it goes.

I find it amazing, no one likes a China made gun, Communist ya' know, BUT, we'll buy their TV's, computers, VCR's, cell phones and most everthing in Walmart.
