I just got my Knoxx SpecOps yesterday and installed it most promptly on my Mossberg 590. Pic below.

However, when I went to put my trigger lock on afterwards (it is just a cheapy plastic one)... it would not fit. The little plastic peg on the lock would fit nice and snug in between the trigger and the trigger guard (also plastic) before the stock was installed. It almost seems like the mounting of the stock... has pushed the trigger guard ahead a mm or so.

Anyone else notice this, or am I on crack?

NOTE: One thing I did notice, that when the stock was hand tight (hand tight with an allen key style ball-end wrench - L-shaped)... there was a gap near the bottom of the receiver. I could notice the resistance was because of the stock pressing against the rear of the trigger guard. When I snugged everything up... the gap went away.

you're on crack

hey, you asked!

No, I think the stock doesn't allow the same clearance as before. I don't think it's possible that the trigger guard moved.

+1 on what Woody said. Mine was tight but I got it to work.

Well, it seems I am NOT ON CRACK. I took the stock off and there was an obvious indentation left in the rear outside of the plastic trigger guard. And the same spot on the inside of the trigger guard, there was a somewhat 'flat spot' like it was pressed in a bit.

See pics below...

Indentation # 1
Indentation # 2
'Flat Spot' on inner rear trigger guard

Hmmmm...

Those are definitely odd, if you ask me.

I'd contact CaCrusin and see what he has to say about it.

I'm stumped, man........ I'v seen plenty of these installed on 590s and have never seen this. Try to PM CaCrusin, he's always eager to help with a Knoxx question or problem.

That's obviously not a 590DA, right?

Thank you all for the vote of confidence in my abilities to solve problems. This one is fairly simple and falls squarely in Mossberg's back yard. Mossberg is notorious for having wide variations in tolerances from one batch of parts to another. This particular trigger housing is on the plus side of the tolerance scale and has some parting line flashing remaining (at least it looks like it in the photos). It is also possible that the slide on the SpecOps stock is also a bit on the plus side of allowable tolerances. All these factors, combined with the torque needed to properly install the stock made an imprint on the polymer trigger guard.

What does this mean to the shooter? Nothing. Once the stock is installed there is no further movement against the trigger guard and the pressure remains constant. There is nothing to cause a failure or lead to problems of any kind. If it makes you uncomfortable, you can take a Dremel tool and a sanding drum and remove a small amount of material from either the trigger guard or the slide or both to relieve the pressure. The trigger guard is molded from fiberglass reinforced polymer that is incredibly strong and has remarkable flexibility.

I hope I have answered your question to your satisfaction. If not, please call me at 877-465-6699 (toll-free) to discuss it further.

Good shooting,

CaCrusin 8) aka Larry

Now that is what I call customer service. I wish more companies were like Knoxx.

Is that customer service, or what??? I get straighter answers out of a stranger under a screen name than my own family :!:

Thanks for the reply Larry.

Do you mean removing some of the metal circled in the pics below? This is the 'edge' that is causing the prob making a nice indent on the trigger guard. Tx.

For those who are curious...

the 2nd pic above with the 'edge'... is completely flat/straight now from top to bottom... no curve at all anymore. That is how much it was pressing my trigger guard in.

G22 let me know how your 590 shoots with the SpecOps. I've been debating purchasing one myself.

G22, do you have any trouble reaching the safety quickly with the pistol grip of the SpecOps stock on your 590?
