The only way to do this that I know of would be to buy a 590 barrel and magazine tube.

Two Words: Duct Tape.

Or you could use a sling mount...and duct tape.

I have a suggestion.

I have noticed that the take-down screw on my Mav 88 Security has a threaded hole in the end. I have also noticed that it accepts a 10/32 bolt.

Using this bolt hole, you could easily build a simple bracket to hold your bayonet and attach it using this hole.

I am tinkering around with using this connection point for a simple sling attachment.

Hi!

Good Idea, but im outta luck here i dont know of any good machinist and i suppose i need to buy a bayonet first to see how it should be mounted on the bracket. But still a good idea.

You are right - get yourself the knife you intend to mount and you might be able to make a simple bridge plate that connects from the threaded hole to the hand guard (the piece that sits just above your thumb when you are gripping the knife). Secure it with a wing nut and it will be affix-able/removeable without tools. A hacksaw and a hand drill will make you a rough prototype.

One word of caution - as with any bayonet, you are going to be adding significant weight to the fore end. I am moving my flashlight back a few inches because of that reason alone. Don't go to big on the knife itself or you will find yourself removing it in favour or something smaller or lighter. You might even want to consider a polymer blade/spike instead.

How long is the mag tube in front of the fore-end?

On a standard Mav, you have about 2 inches to work with, but his is pretty tricked out so I can't say for sure.

Unless you can find an adapter for a model 97 Winchester or the one for the 870 that was used on Vietnam vintage guns that could be modified, I guess Duct Tape would be best.

ok, After seeing your thread showing your Mossberg it would be pretty simple to add a bayonet. First you need a lug to lock it on with. I have seen clamp on bayonet lugs on ebay for heavy a barrel AR15

have a machinist bore it out to 1.00 inch so it will fit your magazine tube. Have the machinist add a 3/4 inch long boss what ever ID the ring is on an AR15 bayonet to your magazine cap for the ring on the bayonet to slip over

http://cgi.ebay.com/BAYONET-LUG-ADAPTER ... dZViewItem

or have him make on like this to fit a 12ga mag tube.

I remember seeing a bayonet lug somewhere on line for a 12ga shotgun, but I can not remember where it was at.

Hello!

Thnx i had no idea there was heavy barrel Ar15´s out there.
.725inch seems to small but as you said maybe it works if a machinist makes it bigger.

Still i need something to fit the bayonet on in the front.
This Ar 15 bayonet adapter what kind of bayonets does it take?

.725 is too small. it would need to be bored out to 1.00
On the front you will need to have a boss added to the mag cap. Very simple to do. A quick lathe job. about 30 minutes to do it all.

A M-1 Garand has a pin as the foward mounting locator which would fit nicely into a hole drilled into the mag cap and the rear locking part fits the lug on the bolt on mount. Cheaper ( maybe)Than Gold has the bayos in new condition for about 40.00s and I have one for 30.00 with scabberd.

It is good to see that more and more people are realizing the value of a bayonet.

Hey, instead of the weight of a knife, why not just thread a spike for that "hole" if that is what you are going to use?

Can you add some links so i can see what you mean and what parts i need?

Im impressed of the skills and ideas of the forum members. Im very proud to be here and learn to know ya all. Thnx for all good ideas on adding a bayonet.

Keep bringing more ideas on bayonet lug front and rear.
Im not a machinist and i dont know one so parts that can be mounted directly would be nice.
