I just got back two (2) barrels from Mike Orlen that I had sent to him a week ago for some work. One was from a 1969 28" Sears & Roebuck Ted Williams Model 200 (i.e. Winchester 1200), and the other from a 1974 28" Remington 870 Wingmaster with a rib. I had him lengthen and polish the forcing cones on both barrels and install a screw-in choke tube from Colonial on the Remington barrel. All the work was performed as requested and the work was absolutely first-rate. I would highly recommend Mike's work. Thanks Mike.

Mike has another satisfied customer!

I recently sent him the barrels from my 12ga O/U to have the chokes opened. My cheap calipers are a little inconsistent, but the top barrel measured approximately .680 in diameter and the bottom was .709 (they were marked full/mod). I asked him to open the barrels to light mod/IC and they came back .714/.719. The work looks great and was done quickly.

Here's the weird part for me: After reading this long thread, I didn't bother to call or email Mike prior to sending the barrels because it didn't seem there was a need. I just included a note with instructions and a check and hoped it all would work out. It did, and I'm happy. Thanks Mike!

I am looking to have one of these barrels threaded for chokes http://www.brownells.com/magazines/shotgun-magazines/magazine-tubes-amp-parts/high-capacity-shotgun-kit-prod25124.aspx as I got a really good Black Friday/Cyber Monday deal on the rifled sight version for $120 shipped.

Does anyone know what chokes he can install in these barrels? I'm kinda confused on the options available that way I can mail it in with what style of choke and what constriction I want.

Measure the outside barrel diameter at the muzzle. If it measures .845 or greater, you could have remchoke tube threading. If it measures .825 - .844, you would get truchoke tube threading. If it measures .805 - .824, you would get thinwall choke tube threading.

im kinda confused on that too, what chokes does he thread for specifically? i'm under the impression he does tru-lock and colonial but in regards to tru lock what thread pitch so i know for future reference if i want to pick up more chokes off their site. would be nice if he could thread for rem chokes as i already have those for my 870, the barrel i need done is a 12ga 28" rem 1100

Just received a barrel back. Sent to MO on Thursday, arrived at his shop on Sat, back in my hands Tuesday. Unbelievable turnaround, beautiful choke installation...thanks a lot!

To jwilcher, yes he is still giving the discount. I sent two barrels to him with no payment since I wasn't sure how much work he would need to do to repair my barrels. He did a beautiful job, returned my barrels in less than a week, and enclosed the bill with them. How is that for quality work and trust? Add me to the list of satisfied customers!

I shipped my barrel off to Mike on 12/5/14 and it arrived back to me on 12/9/14. Talk about lighting fast turn around time. The work looks amazing and I cannot wait to buy Carlson Dead Coyote choke for my Mossberg.

UPS must have delivered the barrel last night as I woke up this morning to find the box on my porch. Originally, I thought the package was returned since I wasn't expecting it back so quickly.

I wished I had more shotgun barrels to send to Mike.

Got my Beretta 1200 barrel back from Mike after getting shortened to 25", threaded for thinwall chokes and reset the bead. Threw some cold blue on it when I got it back and put 150 rounds through it. So far so good. Can't thank Mike enough.

I sent Mike an email and was curious what yalls experience has been with how long he takes to respond?

I just don't want Mike to think I'm nagging haha. I just want to have some work done before I move to NC in a month.

Thanks,

Frank

my experience is he doesn't reply to PM's or emails, it's been said a hundred times in this thread... Send him your barrel with a list of what you want and payment.

I sent an 1100 12ga barrel to him to shorten, install tubes, open the gas ports, and reset the bead. A week and change later I received my barrel back with everything done just fine and a very reasonable bill. I would use Mike again.

I spoke to Mike a few months back about choke tube installation in a Mossberg 930. Only thing is, I'm not sure what threaded choke to use. He mentioned using Remington chokes, but I figured Mossberg chokes would best be used. Is there an advantage to using Remington chokes over Mossberg?

I have a quick question:
Can Mike install extended length tubes, or just flush tubes?
Are the prices the same for extended and flush?

EDIT: My bad, I didn't read his price list very well, yes he does do extended tubes and the listed prices show a tiny bit more cost for the extended tubes.
