Please explain the procedure for removing and changing a buttstock on a Super X Model 1. I have read that it is difficult due to the recoil spring and that only a gunsmith should do it. But I can’t afford to take my shotgun to a gunsmith.

Coop,

It is a piece of cake.
Remove the recoil pad (usually allen screws). Inside the butt stock hole is the bolt holding the stock to the action spring tube. It is a 9/16" hex but also has a slot for a large screw driver. I recommend using a 9/16 socket. The bolt is RH thread, counter clockwise to remove.
