I just removed the stock on one of my Super X 1's and when I turned the buttstock screw, the return spring tube un-screwed right out of the back of the receiver. I did finally get the buttstock off and replaced the recoil spring follower.

My Question: How far should I thread the recoil spring tube back into the receiver, and what happens if I screw in a bit too far or too short? I think if screwed in too far the bolt slide link will not clear the end, so I am guessing the right amount is as far in as it can go and the link will still clear it.

Also, should I Loctite it in? If so, Red or Blue?

Yep screw it in so you can still drop the link out.
I grind a small notch in the bottom that will allow the link to drop out and then go one more turn in.
It should be locktited with blue after cleaning both threads. It should have had the locktite before, so someone must have had it out and not installed correctly.

Thanks. It looks it is a stainless replacement. Hence, no Loctite
