 Post subject: Stevens double barrel restoration.

I have came into an old Stevens double barrel that I’m going to restore to wall ornament condition. It is missing the forend and I was hoping someone might have one that needs to be put to good use or either someone tell me what kind of wood they were made of.

Best I can find out is it’s a model 311 12 gauge. I’m trying to post a pic but I’m having trouble attaching it.

There are a bunch of Stevens/Savage Model 311s floating around. As for the forend wood, I refinished one that was a plain walnut but I seem to remember that some were a stained birch. You should be able to get parts for them without issues.

After doing some more research I've found out that it's a 325.

Plain American Black Walnut was used on all those early (1929-ish) Stevens doubles.
